Get the electric chainsaw.
For occasional home use, get an electric chainsaw. Gas is overkill for what you actually need.
Electric chainsaws start every time. No mixing fuel, no pull-cord that takes ten yanks on a cold morning. They’re lighter, quieter, and way less of a hassle when you just want to clear one fallen branch. Battery models have gotten good enough for most yard work – a 40V or 60V saw will handle limbs up to 12 inches without breaking a sweat. Corded ones are cheaper and never run out of juice, but you’re tethered to an outlet.
Gas makes sense if you’re cutting firewood for a winter’s worth of heating, felling big trees, or using it professionally. For the once-a-month storm cleanup or pruning a few overgrown branches? Electric is easier and safer. You won’t need earplugs, and you won’t smell like a lawnmower after five minutes.
Your back will thank you.
