Get the Pentel EnerGel if you're a lefty

The Pentel EnerGel is the best pen for left-handed students because it dries fast and doesn’t smear all over your hand.

Look, the problem with most pens is they use watery ink that stays wet for a second too long. Your hand drags through it, and now your essay looks like a crime scene. EnerGel uses a hybrid gel ink that basically flash-dries on cheap notebook paper. It’s smooth, too, so you’re not fighting the nib.

If you can’t find EnerGel, the Uni-ball Jetstream is the backup pick. It’s a hybrid ballpoint that skips less and dries almost as quick. The Pilot G2 is popular, but it smudges more than these two — I’d skip it. Also, use fine tips (0.5 or less) because less ink means less wetness.

One more thing: paper matters. If you’re on super glossy paper, even the best pen will smear. Stick to regular copy paper or notebooks.
