Give every compartment a job
The easiest way to pack a compartment lunch box is to assign one section per food group and stop overthinking it.
Protein gets one compartment, carbs get one, veggies get one. Done. Protein: hard-boiled eggs, rotisserie chicken, chickpeas, cheese cubes, or Greek yogurt. Carbs: rice, pasta salad, crackers, a tortilla, or bread. Veggies: raw with dip, roasted, or a simple salad.
If your box has three equal compartments, don’t stress about portion math. Fill the biggest compartment with carbs or veggies depending on how hungry you’ll be, then protein, then use any extra space for dipping sauce, fruit, or something crunchy. If you’re packing for a kid, know that they’ll eat the carbs first and may leave the veggies. That’s normal, not a failure.
The real trick is having a short list of foods you already like so packing takes two minutes, not ten. Rotate a few options per category and you’ve got variety without a meal plan.
The point isn’t perfect macros. It’s making sure every section has a purpose so you’re not opening the box and finding three kinds of crackers.
