Give everyone their own caddy

The only way to keep a small shared vanity clutter-free is to give each person their own container and strictly limit what stays on the counter.

Here’s the thing: humans are naturally messy when there’s no defined home for their stuff. In a shared bathroom, every toothbrush, hair product, and razor becomes someone else’s “clutter” if it’s left out. The solution isn’t more organizational shelves or a decluttering app — it’s enforced personal space with a physical boundary.

Get one small caddy or pouch per person. Could be a plastic bin from the Dollar Store or a canvas toiletry bag with a handle. Each person gets exactly one. Everything they need daily (toothbrush, paste, deodorant, face wash) goes inside. At the end of a shower or morning routine, the caddy goes into a cabinet or under the sink. The counter stays empty when not in use.

A few hard rules help: no leaving bottles on the counter, no “temporarily” placing a hairbrush next to the sink, and absolutely no sharing the caddy space. If someone has too much for their caddy, they need to edit, not expand.

For the rest — the shared stuff like hand soap and one clean towel — pick a spot and don’t budge. Wall-mounted soap dispenser, towel hook right next to the sink, and nothing else.

You still get one morning where someone forgets to put their caddy away. But it beats living with a counter that looks like a CVS exploded.
