Go bold on top, simple on the bottom.
Look for a swimsuit with a statement top and a solid, high-waisted bottom. Pear-shaped means you carry more weight in your hips and thighs, so the goal is to draw the eye upward and create visual balance.
A ruffle, a pattern, a bright color, or even a little padding on top gives your shoulders and chest more presence. Meanwhile, keep the bottom dark and smooth — no ruching, no side ties, no busy prints. High-waisted cuts are especially flattering because they cover the widest part of your hips without adding bulk.
One-pieces with a deep V-neck or a cutout at the waist also work well because they break up the torso and minimize the hip line. Avoid boy shorts or low-rise bikini bottoms — they tend to cut across the widest part and create an unflattering line.
If you want to feel confident and comfortable, this is the formula. You don’t need three different suits to try on.
