Go for 32GB, don't sweat CL18 vs CL16
Go for 32GB. The capacity bump will help more than the latency difference will hurt.
In gaming, the difference between CL16 and CL18 at the same frequency (e.g., 3200MHz or 3600MHz) is usually 1-2% in frame rates. You won’t feel it. But running out of RAM because you only have 16GB? You will feel that—stuttering, longer load times, and background apps fighting for space. Modern games like Starfield, Hogwarts Legacy, or Cities: Skylines 2 can easily push past 16GB.
If you’re choosing between a 32GB CL18 kit and a 16GB CL16 kit, the 32GB wins every time. If you’re picking between two 32GB kits and the CL16 is only a few bucks more, sure, grab it. But don’t pay a premium. The real-world difference in games is tiny, and you’ll never notice it mid-gunfight.
Capacity is the bottleneck. Not latency.
