Go vertical and get a vacuum sealer

The best method for storing seasonal decorations in a small apartment with no attic or basement is to use vertical space aggressively and vacuum-seal anything soft.

Clear plastic bins are your foundation. Stack them high — on top of the wardrobe, above kitchen cabinets, under the bed. But only use them for hard stuff: ornaments, figurines, lights (wrapped neatly so they don’t become a Gordian knot). Label every bin on both the lid and the side. You will not remember what’s in the “Xmas 2021” bin six months from now.

For anything fabric — wreaths, stockings, tablecloths, those creepy felt Santas — get a vacuum sealer or at least a good set of compression bags. They shrink a full tree skirt down to the size of a thick sub sandwich. That space you just bought? It’s huge. Store those bags in the same bins or slide them into the gap between your couch and the wall.

Don’t waste money on fancy “decoration storage systems” from Instagram. A sturdy shelf unit in a closet corner + a pack of standard bins + a roll of painter’s tape for labels will sort you out for under fifty bucks.
