Goat Island is the better photographer's view.

Yes, Goat Island. You get closer, you get detail, and you get a side-angle that makes the water look even more powerful. Prospect Point is fine for the classic postcard shot, but it’s farther back and more crowded.

Prospect Point gives you the straight-on view you’ve seen a thousand times. That’s not bad—it’s iconic—but it’s also the shot everyone gets. The real drama is from Goat Island, where you’re practically standing next to the falls. You can feel the mist, frame the water rushing over the edge, and even get that perfect cross-angle where you see both American Falls and Bridal Veil in one frame.

If you want a wide, clean composition without people, sure, Prospect Point works. But for texture, motion, and a sense of scale? Goat Island every time. Bring a rain sleeve for your lens.

This is one of those rare spots where the less-crowded viewpoint is actually the better one.
