Half the box is vegetables.
Half the box is vegetables.
The best way to organize a compartment lunch box is to map it to the plate method: half veggies, a quarter protein, a quarter carbs. The box is just a plate with walls.
So the biggest or two combined compartments get the vegetables. Protein gets the next slot. Carbs get the smallest. That’s backwards from what most people do, which is loading up on rice or noodles first. You want to graze on veggies, not plow through a brick of carbs.
Texture matters more than order. Saucy stuff goes in a tiny leakproof cup or silicone muffin liner so it doesn’t soak everything. Crunchy veggies stay in their own compartment so they don’t get sad. Grapes and cheese can share, but keep both away from anything wet.
Don’t overthink it. Balanced doesn’t mean perfect. Half plants, a decent chunk of protein, and some carbs beats most takeout.
