Have the Rolling Stones Said Whether 'Hackney Diamonds' Is Their Final Album?

When Hackney Diamonds dropped in 2023, the question everyone asked was: Is this it? Mick Jagger answered in a Today show interview that he doesn’t know if it’s the last album, but he also admitted he doesn’t want to be “wheeling out” on stage as a very old man. Keith Richards, as always, was more stubborn—he told The New York Times they’ll keep going as long as they feel it, and that “retirement” isn’t in their vocabulary. Neither gave a hard yes or no.

As for a farewell tour, the band has never laid out a timeline. They announced a 2024 North American tour to support the album (dubbed the “Hackney Diamonds Tour”), but it wasn’t branded as a final goodbye. Ronnie Wood has joked that they’ll probably “just drop dead on stage” before officially retiring. So the only concrete answer is that they’re still playing, still recording when inspiration hits, and leaving the door open—but not promising anything.
