Hybrid mousepads handle humidity better than pure cloth.
Yes, humidity affects them differently. Pure cloth pads absorb moisture from the air, which changes how your mouse glides and grips. When it’s humid, cloth fibers swell and friction goes up — your mouse feels sluggish. When it’s dry, the opposite happens, and you might overshoot.
Hybrid pads (cloth surface bonded to rubber or silicone) are much less porous. The rubbery top layer doesn’t soak up as much humidity, so static friction stays more consistent across weather changes. You still get some effect because the underlying cloth layer can wick moisture, but it’s nowhere near as dramatic as a full cloth pad.
If you game or work in a basement, coastal area, or just live somewhere humid, a hybrid pad is worth the few extra bucks. The pure cloth pad will feel different every time the dew point shifts.
