I wouldn't risk a RAM disk on soldered RAM without cooling.

Probably not. The heat buildup from constant reads and writes could shorten the life of RAM that’s already hard to replace. Laptops with soldered memory usually skip heatsinks because typical use doesn’t generate enough heat to matter. A RAM disk is not typical use — it keeps the memory active and under load continuously.

If the chips get too hot, you can’t just swap a stick. You’re looking at a motherboard repair or a new laptop. The performance gain from a RAM disk is rarely worth that gamble on a machine where the RAM is sealed in.

I’d rather use a fast NVMe SSD for temporary files. It’s safer, cheaper to replace, and the speed difference is negligible for most tasks.

Don’t turn your laptop into a toaster for a few extra megabytes per second.
