Ice Maker Leaks Are Usually a Frozen Fill Line

Ice maker leaks are almost always a frozen fill line or a bad water inlet valve—start by unplugging the fridge and thawing everything out.

The most common culprit is the fill tube. It’s that little plastic tube that squirts water into the ice mold. If it freezes, the water backs up and spills over. Unplug the fridge, take out the ice bin, and look for frost or ice chunks near that tube. Thaw it with a hair dryer on low or a warm towel. While you’re in there, check the ice mold for cracks and make sure it’s sitting level.

If there’s no visible ice, the second suspect is the water inlet valve at the back of the fridge. This valve controls the water going to the icemaker. If it doesn’t shut off completely, it’ll dribble water even when it shouldn’t. That’s a cheap part,
