If you never hit 14GB, you don't need 32GB.

Probably not. 16GB is still the sweet spot for almost everyone.

The only real reason to go to 32GB is if your workflow consistently pushes past 16GB — like heavy video editing, multiple VMs, or huge datasets. If you’re just browsing, writing docs, light coding, or gaming, 16GB leaves plenty of headroom. 32GB won’t make your browser faster or your Word doc snappier.

The trap is future-proofing. People think they need to prepare for heavier software. But by the time you actually need 32GB, you’ll likely want a faster CPU or a new machine anyway. Buying RAM you won’t use for three years is wasted money today.

And yes, that 14GB ceiling you mentioned is a clear sign. If your peak usage is 14GB, you’re not even touching the 16GB limit. 32GB would just sit there doing nothing.

Spare the cash. Upgrade your monitor or treat yourself to a proper chair. That’s where you’ll actually feel the difference.
