Installing RAM in an ITX case is a pain.

More effort than you’d think. In a mid-tower, you open the side panel, push the sticks in, close it. Takes thirty seconds.

In a compact ITX case, you might need to remove the CPU cooler, or at least a fan, just to reach the slots. Some cases force you to route your fingers through a maze of cables. If the motherboard is mounted with the RAM behind the GPU, you might need to pull the whole GPU out. That’s a ten-minute job instead of thirty seconds, plus the risk of bumping something loose.

I’m not saying it’s hard – you’re still just pushing plastic clips – but the physical effort is night and day. Mid-tower is one thumb press. ITX is a game of Tetris with your hands.

If you build in ITX, plan for the extra fiddling. The rest of us will be done before you’ve removed your second screw.
