Installing RAM takes about 10 minutes.
Yes, including opening the case and touching metal to ground yourself. For a first-timer, budget 20–30 minutes so you can watch a quick video and not rush. Once you’ve done it, it’s a five-minute job.
The physical act is trivial: open case, locate RAM slots, push sticks in until they click. The time sink is usually having to read the motherboard manual to figure out which slots to use (dual-channel, etc.) or struggling with a stubborn heat sink on the CPU cooler that blocks access. That last one can add 10 minutes if you have to remove and reinstall the cooler.
Don’t overthink it. RAM installation is the easiest PC upgrade by far. Future You will wonder why you ever worried.
