Keep granola crunchy with a leakproof compartment

The trick is to keep the granola in its own dry, sealed compartment until lunch.

Moisture is the enemy. Yogurt and fruit both give off water, and granola soaks it up like a sponge. So the fix is physical separation — not just “put it on top” or “hope it stays crunchy.” That doesn’t work.

Easiest option: get a bento box with separate compartments, and make sure the granola section has a tight seal. If that’s too pricey or doesn’t fit your kid’s lunch box, use a small reusable container or a silicone muffin cup with a lid, placed right inside the lunch bag. The key is that the granola is not touching air from the yogurt section.

If you’re packing it all in one bowl, stop doing that. Even layering granola on top of the yogurt will let moisture migrate overnight. Pack the granola separately and let them mix it at lunch. It takes an extra five seconds, but it’s the only way to guarantee crunch.

Future You deserves crunch.
