Keep the dressing off the greens until lunch
Once dressing is on the greens, the sogginess has already started — the fix is keeping the two apart until you’re ready to eat.
It’s not a storage problem, it’s a chemistry problem. Dressing is mostly oil and acid, and it breaks down leafy greens fast. You can slow it down, but you can’t really stop it.
The obvious move: pack the dressing in its own little container. No separate compartment? Use a small jar, a paper cup, or a silicone muffin liner sitting right in the box.
If you’re set on having it already dressed—like you’re meal-prepping—then your best shot is sturdy greens. Kale and cabbage hold up way better than spinach or spring mix. Dry the leaves well first (the salad spinner matters), put the dressing at the bottom, and lay down a barrier of heavier stuff—chickpeas, cheese, chicken—between the dressing and the leaves. The greens stay above the waterline, and you buy yourself some time.
The dressing lives in the bag, not the bowl. That’s the whole trick.
