Lazy Susans and magnetic strips are the only kitchen declutter tools that actually work.

For small kitchen cabinets, Lazy Susans for spices and magnetic strips for knives are the two most effective solutions. You don’t need a fancy organization system or custom inserts. Just these two things, and you’re 80% of the way there.

Lazy Susans solve the problem of deep cabinets where stuff gets buried in the back. Put one on a shelf, load it with spices, oils, or small jars, and now you can spin to find anything instantly. No more pulling everything out just to reach the paprika. You can get a basic 10-inch plastic one for under ten bucks. The metal ones look nicer but slip less.

Magnetic strips for knives are even simpler. Mount one on the wall (or inside a cabinet door if you’re renting), and suddenly your knife block is gone. That frees up a full square foot of counter space. Plus, knives stay sharper because they’re not banging against each other in a drawer. The key is getting a strong enough strip – the cheap ones lose magnets over time. Pay a little extra for a neodymium strip.

Do both and your small kitchen will feel twice as big. Future you will thank present you every time you cook.
