Leakproof containers beat any lunch box

The best lunch box for yogurt and applesauce is basically any lunch box — the real fix is a leakproof container.

The marketplace is full of “lunch boxes” that claim to be leakproof, but that’s marketing. What actually keeps yogurt off the inside of your backpack is the container you put it in. Look for a small container with a locking lid and a silicone gasket ring. Those plastic screw-top jars or glass flip-top jars (Weck-style) are the gold standard. If you’re packing for kids, reusable squeeze pouches work even better — less spoon, less mess, and they’re genuinely leakproof. They just take more effort to clean.

Avoid cheap deli containers and anything that just says “resealable.” Those are fine for dry snacks, not for semi-liquids. Also, pack the yogurt on top or upright, because gravity is undefeated.

No lunch box can save a leaky container — so spend your money there instead.
