Probably not, and I wouldn’t try. Most island rapids are in protected areas—national parks, state parks, or tribal lands—where private boats are either banned outright or require a specific permit that’s hard to get.

Even when it’s technically allowed, the rapids near islands are often narrow, shallow, and full of hazards you don’t know. Rangers and local outfitters have the route knowledge and safety gear. Your own paddleboard isn’t built for that kind of current.

Save the headache and rent from a shop that knows the water. They’ll give you the right boat, the required permits, and probably a shuttle.
