Optimized Battery Charging (on by default) learns when you usually unplug and holds the battery at around 80% until just before you need it. That’s the ideal range for lithium-ion longevity. So if you’re mostly docked, the battery won’t sit at 100% for months on end—it’ll chill at 80% and top off right before you leave.
Worst case? You leave it plugged in 24/7 and after a few years the battery health dips a bit faster. But that’s still way gentler than constantly cycling from 100% to zero. Let the software do its thing.
Just don’t panic if you see “100%” after a long plugged-in session—that’s normal. The magic is in the long term.
