Lighted is useful; glow-in-the-dark is a gimmick.

Lighted means there’s a small LED that glows when the cord is live—handy for spotting that a tool is still plugged in. Glow-in-the-dark means the plastic itself is phosphorescent, so it’ll glow for a bit after being exposed to light. That’s more about not tripping over it in a dark basement than anything else.

Neither makes the cord safer. The important ratings are gauge, length, and whether it’s rated for indoor or outdoor use. Don’t pay extra for glow-in-the-dark unless you really need to find it in the dark.

If you’re shopping for an extension cord, get the right gauge for the job. The glow is just a party trick.
