Portishead's Dummy started in Neneh Cherry's kitchen

Geoff Barrow and Beth Gibbons met during an Enterprise Allowance course in February 1991 and started recording ideas in Neneh Cherry’s London kitchen while Barrow worked on Cherry’s Homebrew album. They continued at Coach House Studios in Bristol, where guitarist Adrian Utley joined them — finishing their first song ‘It Could Be Sweet’ later that year.
