The recording process took approximately two and a half years, spanning from 1974 to 1976. Wonder worked in over four studios on both coasts — Crystal Sound in Hollywood, the Record Plant in Hollywood and Sausalito, and The Hit Factory in New York City — with final mixing conducted at Crystal Sound.
