How was Alela Diane’s debut album recorded?
The Pirate’s Gospel was recorded by Diane’s father, Tom Menig, in Nevada City, California during the summer of 2004. Menig was so impressed by his daughter’s songwriting that he set up a home studio specifically to record her. The album was initially self-released as a limited run of hand-sewn CD-Rs in brown paper sleeves.
