John Prine was discovered by Atlantic's Jerry Wexler at a Kris Kristofferson show

Jerry Wexler of Atlantic Records was at a Kris Kristofferson show at the Bitter End when he saw a mailman with a guitar step up and play his own songs. That was John Prine, and Wexler signed him on the spot — one of the best A&R decisions in folk music history.
