Led Zeppelin II was assembled in studios across America and the UK while the band toured.

Instead of a single studio lock-in, Zeppelin recorded bits and pieces at Olympic Studios in London, A&R Studios in New York, Mirror Sound in Los Angeles, and several others between January and August 1969. The album was literally built on the road.
