Deep Listening is entirely improvised, recorded live in a cistern

Pauline Oliveros and company went into a cistern and just played — the whole album is live improvisation with no overdubs. The 45-second reverb of that underground space becomes part of the instrument. It’s the closest most of us will get to hearing music played inside a cathedral of water and concrete.
