Franc Roddam directed the film version released in 1979, with Phil Daniels playing Jimmy and Toyah Willcox in the cast. It’s one of the better rock-opera-to-film adaptations because it doesn’t try to explain the music — it just drops you into the mod scene and lets the alienation speak for itself.
