William Basinski played his Disintegration Loops on a Revox G36 held together with D batteries

Basinski used a Revox G36 tape machine to play back the deteriorating loops, with D batteries literally placed on top to hold the tape in place. Low-tech desperation that produced some of the most haunting ambient music ever recorded.
