Patricia Barber turned Ovid into a jazz song cycle

A Guggenheim Fellowship in composition funded Barber’s research for a jazz song cycle based on Ovid’s Metamorphoses. Mythologies is the result — a jazz composer given the resources to fuse classical mythology with her own idiom.
