What is the story behind the album’s cover art?

The cover features an absurd cake-and-tire sculpture designed by Robert Brownjohn. The actual cake was baked by then-unknown chef Delia Smith, who would go on to become one of Britain’s most famous television cooks. The sculpture humorously replaced the vinyl record with a tire on one side.
