What legal problems preceded the making of Astral Weeks?

At the beginning of 1968, Morrison was trapped in a contract dispute with Bang Records following the sudden death of label founder Bert Berns. Berns’s widow, Ilene Berns, held Morrison responsible for creative difficulties that she believed contributed to her husband’s fatal heart attack, making Morrison unable to record until Warner Bros. Records intervened.
