What was the band’s name before Black Sabbath?

The band was originally called Earth, a blues rock group formed in 1968 by bassist Geezer Butler and vocalist Ozzy Osbourne (formerly of Rare Breed), joined by guitarist Tony Iommi and drummer Bill Ward. They changed their name to Black Sabbath after a dark song being developed by Butler, inspired by the 1963 Boris Karloff film of the same name.
