Hendrix’s relentless perfectionism, the constant presence of uninvited guests in the studio, and his insistence on recording take after take drove a wedge between him and bassist Noel Redding. Redding was also frustrated that Hendrix frequently played bass parts himself. These tensions contributed to the eventual dissolution of the Experience.
