Why does Led Zeppelin IV have no album title?
Following critical backlash against Led Zeppelin III, the band wanted to prove that great music didn’t need marketing. They replaced their names with four personal symbols (runes) and initially refused interviews and press. The strategy worked — the album became one of the best-selling records in history, with over 37 million copies sold worldwide.
