Why is Led Zeppelin’s fourth album untitled?

Led Zeppelin intentionally left their fourth album untitled with no band name on the cover as a deliberate response to negative critical reviews of their previous album Led Zeppelin III. The band wanted the music to speak for itself without the influence of their now-famous name, instead using four symbolic runes chosen by each band member to represent themselves.
