Why is Paranoid considered so important in heavy metal history?

Paranoid is widely regarded as one of the most influential heavy metal albums ever made, often cited as a key album in the development of the genre. It was ranked number one on Rolling Stone’s ‘100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time’ in 2017 and number 139 on its 500 Greatest Albums of All Time in 2020. It was the band’s only album to top the UK Albums Chart until 13 in 2013.
