Reprise Records hated Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot so much they refused to release it – so Wilco walked, streamed the whole album for free on their website, and let the internet decide. The gamble paid off: Nonesuch picked it up and it became one of the defining albums of the 2000s.
