Lip balm with SPF beats regular sunscreen for lips.

You can use regular sunscreen on your lips if you’re desperate, but you probably won’t like it. It tastes weird, it’s not formulated to stay put on wet lips, and it’s usually too thick or greasy to feel pleasant. Plus, you’ll likely lick it off within minutes — defeating the purpose.

A dedicated lip balm with SPF (at least SPF 30) is designed for the job. It stays on longer, feels better, and doesn’t make everything taste like sunscreen. Lips are skin — they burn just as fast as your nose, maybe faster — so protecting them matters.

Skip the stick if you can find a squeeze tube. Sticks can pick up dirt over time and don’t always cover well. But honestly, any SPF lip product is better than none.

Your lips will thank you later.
