Lube the zipper before you blame the zipper

A stuck backpack zipper is almost always a dirty or misaligned zipper, not a broken one.

Start with the cheap fix: rub a bar of soap or a candle stub across the teeth, or scribble over them with a pencil. Graphite is a dry lubricant and soap does the same job. Work the zipper back and forth a few times.
