Match your pool float to your surroundings, not trends

Matching your pool float to your pool’s aesthetic is easier than you think — just focus on the dominant colors and mood of your pool area.

Start with the obvious: what color is your pool? If it’s a classic blue, white floats always work. Gray or dark tile? Go with muted tones like taupe, slate, or sage. If you have a lot of tropical plants or bright lounge cushions, pull one accent color from that and run with it. Even a simple inflatable in a matching hue ties the whole scene together better than a neon pineapple that belongs at a frat party.

Shape and material matter too. Modern pools with straight lines look better with geometric or minimalist floats — think rectangles, ovals, clear inflatables. A natural lagoon-style pool calls for organic shapes (leaves, round loungers, woven textures). And if you want to avoid the cheap inflatable look, consider foam or vinyl-clad floats that don’t scream “plastic island.”
