Meal-prep lunch is a stack, not a box.

The best lunch box for Sunday meal prep isn’t a single box at all — it’s a set of three stackable glass containers that fit in one bag.

Multi-compartment containers with removable dividers sound like the answer, but they usually aren’t. The dividers are rarely leakproof, the compartments are too small for a full day’s food, and the good ones don’t stack well because of their weird shapes. You end up with one bulky box that holds a sad salad and a few crackers.

What actually works is a simple system: two or three same-size glass containers — like a 2-cup and a 3-cup — that nest and stack together. Put your main dish in one, sides and snacks in the others. They stack flat in a lunch bag, they reheat well, and nothing leaks.

If you specifically want one container with removable dividers for a single meal, the Sistema Bento or LocknLock boxes are decent. Just don’t expect them to carry a whole day’s worth of food. For that, you want a stack, not a box.

Stop looking for the perfect gadget. The perfect system is a little tower of glass that you can actually wash.
