Mick Jagger Won't Rule Out Another Album After 'Hackney Diamonds' — But Keith Isn't So Sure

When Hackney Diamonds dropped in 2023, Mick Jagger started hedging. In his Zane Lowe interview, he said “I’m not saying we won’t do another one, but this feels like a good one to go out on.” That’s a classic Jagger move — keeping the door cracked open while acknowledging the album’s weight as a potential finale. He doubled down in The Times, saying “I’m not going to say it’s the last album, because that would be a bit final. But it could be.”

Keith Richards, meanwhile, has a looser read. In a New York Times piece, he shrugged off the endgame talk: “We’re still a band. We just made a record — who says it’s the last?” But later, in Rolling Stone, he softened: “If it’s the last one, it’s a hell of a way to go out.” That’s about as close as Keith gets to admitting an ending. Neither wants to nail the coffin shut, but Jagger’s the one leaving paper trails.
