Micro-textured mousepads are better for hygiene.
Yes, but the difference is noticeable only if you clean them.
Cloth pads are basically sponges. Dead skin, oils, crumbs—they all get trapped in the weave. Over time that’s a biofilm farm. A micro-textured surface (think hard plastic or glass with a subtle grit) doesn’t absorb anything. Skin cells sit on top and wipe off with a damp cloth.
The real hygiene win is cleanability. You can disinfect a hard pad with alcohol in seconds. Cloth pads need washing and drying, and most people just… don’t.
If you wash your cloth pad weekly, it’s fine. But if you’re the type who only notices grime when it starts catching the light, get the micro-textured one. Future You will smell the difference.
