Mildliners are the bleed-proof pick

Zebra Mildliners are the best highlighters I’ve found for notebook paper that doesn’t bleed through.

They use a water-based ink that’s less saturated, and the chisel tip lays down a controlled amount of liquid without soaking the page. You can even write on the back of the page after highlighting and it’s readable. That’s rare.

That said, no highlighter is magic. If your notebook paper is ultra-thin, even Mildliners might ghost (show a faint shadow). Try them on a corner before committing.

Other good options: Stabilo Boss Original is a classic, but it’s wetter and easier to overdo it — I’d only trust it on thicker paper. Sharpie Clear View is nice because the tip is clear so you can see text, but it deposits a heavier stripe. For everyday notebooks, Mildliners are the safest
