Mineral sunscreens are the answer.
Yes, but you have to look for mineral-based formulas with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.
Chemical sunscreens (the ones with avobenzone, oxybenzone, or octinoxate) are the usual culprits. They get absorbed into your skin, and when you sweat or swim, they can run right into your eyes and burn like hell. Mineral sunscreens sit on top of your skin and reflect UV rays. They’re much less likely to migrate into your eyes.
That said, not all mineral sunscreens are created equal. Some still sting if they contain other irritating ingredients (fragrance, alcohol, certain preservatives). Look for ones marketed as “eye-friendly” or “for sensitive skin.” Brands like Supergoop (mineral line), Blue Lizard, or Thinkbaby tend to work well. Patch test near your eye first if you’re prone to reactions.
Your eyes will thank you.
