Moving from 16GB to 32GB RAM barely affects power consumption.

Not much. Maybe a few watts at most.

RAM uses very little power. Each DDR4 stick draws about 2-3 watts at idle and maybe 5-7 watts under load. DDR5 is similar. Going from one stick to two (or from 2x8 to 2x16) adds maybe 3-5 watts total. That’s like turning on a small LED bulb.

Compare that to your CPU pulling 65-150 watts and your GPU pulling 150-400 watts. The RAM is a rounding error. You won’t see it on your electricity bill.

If you’re deciding between 16GB and 32GB, power consumption should be the last thing on your mind. Speed and capacity matter way more.
