Nick Mason's Diminished Role During 'A Momentary Lapse of Reason': Friction or Acceptance?

The most interesting thing about Nick Mason’s contribution to A Momentary Lapse of Reason is how little he actually played. Going through a divorce and struggling with his drumming confidence, Mason was largely sidelined. Most of the drum parts were played by session musician Jim Keltner or came from drum machines—a decision pushed by producer Bob Ezrin that drove many of the creative clashes with David Gilmour.
